DES MOINES, Iowa - Natasha Harvey of the JU women's outdoor track & field team qualified for Thursdays finals in the long jump after she placed second overall in Wednesday's preliminary round - breaking the school record with a leap of 21-09.00" in Des Moines, Iowa.

Harvey won the second flight and trailed Blessing Okagbare of Texas El-Paso by just one inch in the overall standings.

"Natasha looked great today," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "She was able to handle the windy conditions and looked as good as anybody else in the meet. There will be a lot of evenly matched, quality jumpers competing tomorrow. Shaq performed well, unfortunately it wasn't enough today. She will continue to train and I am sure she will jump well in the Olympic Trials in late June."

Harvey's junior teammate Shaquania Lundy, also competing in the long jump, just missed out on qualifying for the finals after she recorded a jump of 20-04.00".

Harvey and the other 11 jumpers will compete in the finals tomorrow at 6 p.m.
