Leverette Claims A-Sun Track & Field Scholar-Athlete Honor

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference honored Christie Leverette of Kennesaw State as the 2012 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year to highlight the league’s Academic All-Conference team.

Leverette competed in the heptathlon and high jump at the 2012 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track & Field Championship. She earned second place in the heptathlon with a school record 4,955 points. Leverette also won the high jump with a record-setting height of 1.76m. Leverette boasts a 4.0 GPA as an Integrative Studies major.

The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams this fall to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better and participated in at least half of their team’s games.
