MACON, Ga. - North Florida's Brianna Frazier and Kennesaw State's Suzee Mills both won their second Atlantic Sun Women's Track and Field Performer of the Week Honors of the season, announced Wednesday by the league office. Frazier won the 400m run at the UNF Invitational with the seventh fastest time in the country (53.56s), while Mills set a new team record in the hammer throw, 52.76m.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Brianna Frazier, North Florida (So. – Sprints – Jacksonville, Fla. – Sport Management)
- Third Career Track Athlete of the Week Honor
- Won the 400m at the Best Western/UNF Invitational and had the fastest 400m time in the conference
- Her mark of 53.56 was the sixth-fastest 400m time recorded in the nation this year
- Frazier was just one second slower than the fastest time in the country, 52.60, which is held by Clemson's Marlena Wesh
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Jemeli Sang (Sr., USC Upstate) – Recorded a program-best time of 35:06.57 in the women’s 10,000-meter run
- Kentrell White (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Broke the school record in the 100m dash with a time of 11.93 seconds
- Ashley Lehman (Sr., Lipscomb) – Finished the 5000m run at the Raleigh Relays with a personal-best 17:00.63s mark
- Joane Pierre (Jr., Jacksonville) – Had two second places finishes in the 1500m (4:25.05) and 800m (2:07.67) at the UNF Invitational
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Suzee Mills, Kennesaw State (Jr. – Throws – Hoschton, Ga. – Business Management)
- Second Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award; Second of the season
- Set a new team record in the hammer throw with a 52.76-meter throw
- Placed second in the javelin with a toss of 39.35-meters
- Placed fifth in the discus at 38.75 meters
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Breana Kwasnik (Fr., USC Upstate) – Earned second-place for the Upstate women in the pole vault with mark of 3.35-meters (10-11.75) at the Winthrop Invitational
- Jilian Linklater (So., Belmont) – Set a new personal record in the high jumps with a 1.65-meter jump
