MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville’s Fernanda Carrero went undefeated for the week in two singles and two doubles matches, including a crucial singles victory in the Dolphins’ 4-3 win over Georgia Southern, and on Friday the sophomore notched her first career Player of the Week honor the conference office announced.
Carrero went 2-0 in singles on the week, not dropping a game against Florida A&M’s Lenice Boyd, 6-0, 6-0. The Mexico City native picked up another straight set victory over Georgia Southern’s Shea Huxtable, 6-3, 6-2. Carrero also went 2-0 in doubles with Lena Willi at the number two position, and 8-4 win against Florida A&M and an 8-2 win versus Georgia Southern.
