Belmont Meets Jacksonville in A-Sun Showdown

MACON, Ga. - Belmont travels to Jacksonville in pivotal match up in the Atlantic Sun Game of the Week at 6 p.m. Friday at the Ashley Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Fla. and live on ASunTV.

Both Belmont and Jacksonville remain in contention for the A-Sun title. Jacksonville can claim the A-Sun title with wins versus Belmont and Lipscomb. Belmont will capture the conference title with a win against Jacksonville and win against UNF. Belmont can also win the league title with a win against Jacksonville and a tie against UNF, but only if Kennesaw State falls to Campbell on Saturday. Sari Lin leads the Bruins with two conference Defensive Player of the Week honors and she enters the match with a shutout streak of 155 minutes. Jacksonville enters the weekend on a five-game unbeaten streak and with only one loss in its last 10 matches.

One of the game's key matchups should be Jacksonville forward Eva Leeper against Belmont’s Lin. Leeper leads the Dolphins in goals and points. Lin ranks first in the A-Sun in save percentage and second in goals-against average. Jacksonville goalkeeper Alexa Rooney looks to keep the Dolphins in the race for the A-Sun title. She holds a 1.36 goals-against average and a .735 save percentage with three shutouts. Belmont’s Jayme Trocino ranks second in the A-Sun in points and tied for first in goals.
