ETSU’s Monty and Belmont’s Lin Claim A-Sun Honors

MACON, Ga. - ETSU’s Jordan Monty earned Player of the Week honors with a seven-point week for the Buccaneers while Belmont’s Sari Lin led the Bruins to an undefeated record to earn conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Monty, senior forward, led the Buccaneers with four points against USC Upstate last Monday, netting a goal and two assists in ETSU's 5-0 win over the Spartans. Four days later the ETSU captain and sports management major scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, midway through the second half and handed out an assist in the Bucs heartbreaking 3-2 double-overtime loss to Mercer. For the week, the Mesquite, Texas native picked up seven points, leading the Bucs to wins against USC Upstate and league-leading Kennesaw State
Lin, a sophomore goalkeeper, extended her scoreless streak to 155 minutes after Belmont's final regular-season weekend at home. Against FGCU, the marketing major went the distance and finished with a season-high 12 saves, the second-highest single-game effort in her career. She also notched her sixth shutout of the season against the Eagles. Two days later against Stetson, Lin sat out the first of against Stetson as senior Renee Pilch got the start on senior day for the Bruins. Lin recorded four saves versus the Hatters in the second half and overtime as Belmont rallied for the tie against Stetson. Currently, the Carefree, Ariz., native ranks 80th nationally in goals-against average and 121st in the nation in save percentage. Belmont's team GAA ranks 76th in the nation.

Erica Carter, Belmont (Jr. - F - Spring, Texas - Communications) -- Carter scored both of Belmont's goals in a crucial Atlantic Sun match-up with FGCU. For the first time since her freshman campaign, the Spring, Texas native netted two goals in a single contest. Against Stetson, Carter netted the game-tying goal on a free kick.
Tessa Gavilsky, Stetson (Jr. - F - Granite City, Ill. - Integrative Health Science) -- Gavilsky scored the game-winning goal at Lipscomb and assisted on Stetson's goal in 1-1 tie at Belmont. She played in all 200 minutes in the two games. Although just a junior, the current scoring leader in the A-Sun sits just one point shy of becoming Stetson's all-time leader in career points with 69.
Andrea Garavaglia, Stetson (Jr. - GK - Webster Groves, Mo. - Psychology) -- Garavaglia picked up her league-leading (tie) sixth shutout of the season in Stetson's 1-0 win against Lipscomb. She made nine saves and played 110 minutes in 1-1 tie at Belmont.
Sara Elliot, Mercer (Jr. - F - Atlanta - Engineering) -- In 16 games Eliot ranks second on the team in points, with 12, on five goals and two assists on 26 shots on goal. She led the Bears in two crucial conference games this weekend with the assist on the game-winning goal in double overtime at ETSU, and scored the game winner at USC-Upstate.
Marisa Muller, Campbell (So. - MF - Wilmington, Del. - Athletic Training) -- Muller again marshaled a Campbell defense that allowed only one goal in 220 minutes of play (two overtime draws). Her efforts helped Campbell extend its season-best unbeaten stretch to five games (3-0-2) and help the Camels remain in a tie for third place in the league standings. In addition to helping lead CU to six shutouts, she has scored three game-winning goals -- all in A-Sun play to top the conference.
