JU’s Fink and Belmont’s Lin Earn Week’s Honors

MACON, Ga. - Jacksonville’s Liz Fink lead the Dolphins to a victory against the preseason favorite, while Sari Lin continued her shutout streak as the Bruins posted three victories last week.
Fink, a sophomore midfielder, found the net twice in the Dolphins’ win against Kennesaw State, the school picked first in the A-Sun Preseason coaches’ poll. With the win, Jacksonville moved into second place in the conference standings. The second of Cumming, Ga. native’s goals counted as the game winner against the Owls. The exercise science major leads the A-Sun in shots with 45, 11 more than any other player and she averages 3.75 shots per game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Lin increased her scoreless streak to 269 minutes after three more stout performances last week. The Carefree, Ariz., native went the distance against Lipscomb in the annual Battle of the Boulevard and matched her season-high with seven saves. Against ETSU, she recorded her fourth shutout and finished with three saves in the 1-0 victory. Against USC Upstate, she played in just the first 45 minutes of action and came away with two saves. She also picked up the first assist of her career against the Spartans, helping on the first goal of the contest, scored by Erica Carter. The marketing major’s performances dropped her goals-against average to 0.71 and keep her ranked among the top 100 of all NCAA Division I goalkeepers in the category and at the top of the Atlantic Sun.

Other Top Performers
Heather Berg, Stetson (Sr. - F - Fort Myers, Fla. - English) -- Berg scored a goal and assisted on the game-winning goal in 2-0 shutout of Campbell and scored against goalkeeper Jamie Panfil who is fourth in the A-Sun in GAA.
Lauren Paynter, Belmont (Fr. - F - Danville, Ky. - Nursing) -- For the second time this season, the freshman netted multiple goals in a single game to help Belmont win. The Danville, Ky., native notched two goals against USC Upstate to help the Bruins stay undefeated in Atlantic Sun play and extend the Bruins win streak to six matches. Paynter now ranks second on the team in goals (six) and points (13).
Andrea Garavaglia, Stetson (Jr. - GK - Webster Groves, Mo. - Psychology) -- Garavaglia picked up her fifth shutout of the season tying her for the conference lead. Prior to her shutout, only NC State, on Aug. 24, had registered a shutout against Campbell.
Kacie Hudson, Mercer (Jr. - D – Marietta, Ga. - Business) -- Hudson played a key role for the Bears as they split road contest with Jacksonville and UNF this past weekend. Hudson led a defense that posted a 1-0 shutout against the Dolphins in the A-Sun Game of the Week. Her play helped limit JU to nine shots total and only three on goal. In the 1-0 loss to UNF, Hudson anchored a defensive unit that allowed a mere three total shots and only two on goal.
Alexa Rooney, Jacksonville (So. - GK – Peroia, Ill. - Exercise Science) -- Rooney made 11 saves and allowed only one goal over the weekend leading the Dolphins to a 1-1 record.
