MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb’s women’s soccer team ended several dubious streaks this weekend led by the strong play of junior goalkeeper Katie Shelton. Shelton recorded shutouts in both games and on Monday, the conference office named her the first Player of the Week in the Lady Bisons history.
The week started with the Lady Bisons in the midst of a 19-game losing streak, dating back to September 3 of last year, but Shelton put an end to that mark with a 1-0 decision against Jackson State on Wednesday. It was the first home victory since a 2-1 defeat of Winthrop on September 9, 2004, a span of also 19 games. The win was also the first overtime victory since downing Mercer 1-0 on October 31, 2002.
