KENNESAW, Ga. – Game two of the 2006 Atlantic Sun Women's Soccer Championship
was yet another fight to the finish as Jacksonville and ETSU battled it out
to a 1-1 draw Thursday evening at the KSU Soccer Complex. After two overtime
periods, Jacksonville won the shootout 4-3 to advance to the semifinal round.
The first half saw ETSU (5-10-4) fire off six shots to Jacksonville's (9-9-1)
three as both teams went scoreless. In the second, the Dolphins came back with
more intensity, outshooting the Lady Bucs 10-3. Jacksonville's Keri Zwikker
scored the first goal of the night, firing in an assist from Courtney Eppleman
from six yards out at the 50:33 mark.
Shortly after at the 51:45 mark, ETSU's Kia Kindell tapped in a goal assisted
by Jordan Monty. In the two overtime periods, neither ETSU or Jacksonville could
connect on shots, having the match decided by penalty kicks. Jacksonville goalie
Michelle Kmiotek recorded seven saves on the night while ETSU's Erin Bilyeu
tallied eight.
Jacksonville will take face top-seeded host Kennesaw State tomorrow evening
at 7:30 pm.
