MACON, Ga. – Mercer’s Meghan Castaldo and Stetson’s Sarah Stock shared A-Sun Player of the Week honors while Kennesaw State’s Rebecca Hall claimed Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Hall scored her third goal of the season on Saturday night to help KSU to a 2-1 win over ETSU. The Windsor, England native headed home a corner kick to give the Owls an early 1-0 lead. Defensively, the senior limited the Bucs best player, Jordan Monty, to just two shots. The Owls also held ETSU in check, allowing just one goal after the Bucs had put up four against both North Florida and Jacksonville. Hall majors in Sports Management.
Stock continued her recent offensive surge for the Hatters last weekend to earn co-Player of the Week honors. The junior forward netted three goals as Stetson extended their winning streak to five matches with victories over Lipscomb and Belmont. She accounted for both game-winners and leads the team with five goals. The DeLand, Fla., native majors in Biology
Castaldo helped Mercer reverse a frustrating opening month of the season by piling up a goal and two assists to keep the Bears in postseason contention. The sophomore netted the game-winner versus previously unbeaten Belmont on Friday night and then added a pair of assists against Lipscomb. For the year, the Atlanta, Ga., native leads the team in goals, assists and points. Castaldo earns Player of the Week honors for the first time. She majors in Biology.
