Kerns, Beninati Take A-Sun Player of the Week Honors

MACON, Ga. – ETSU's Ramey Kerns and North Florida's Rachel Beninati claimed this week's Atlantic Sun Women's Soccer awards, announced Monday by the league office. Kern's three goals and Beninati's two shutouts this weekend earned the duo these honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ramey Kerns, ETSU (F – Jr. – Kings Mountain, N.C.)

  • Second career Atlantic Sun Player of Week; first this season
  • Tallied three goals this weekend in wins over Presbyterian and Radford
  • Scored both regulation goals for ETSU in the 3-2 OT win against PC
  • Registered game-winning goal in 1-0 victory over Radford
  • Recorded three of ETSU's last four goals
  • Ranks tied for first in the A-Sun in goals scored while ranking second in points

OTHER NOMINEES:

  • Alex Hickey (M, Lipscomb) - Scored her first career goal in a 2-1 loss at Xavier
  • Emma Blackwell (D, FGCU) - Recorded a pair of late goals to defeat Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2-1
  • Alyssa Welsh (F, Stetson) - Registered both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory over Embry-Riddle
  • Thea Linkfield (F, UNF) - Tallied both goals in 2-0 victory over South Carolina State

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Rachel Beninati, UNF
(GK – So. – Clearwater Fla.)

  • First career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week
  • Recorded second and third career shutouts
  • Registered 10 saves on the week including six vs. Gardner Webb
  • Played 211:05 consecutive scoreless minutes
  • Lowered her goals against average to 1.00 - tied for third in the A-Sun

OTHER NOMINEES:

  • Erin Zerio (GK, Lipscomb) - Made 15 saves on the week, good for a .833 save percentage
  • Brittany Brown (GK, FGCU) - Earned her first career victory, recording six saves
  • Victoria Troccoli (GK, Stetson) - Earned her first victory with the Hatters in 2-1 OT victory over Embry-Riddle
  • Andie Stone (D, ETSU) - Scored golden-goal in OT to defeat Presbyterian
