Monday, September 26, 2011 MACON, Ga. – Belmont and ETSU both opened the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference slate with undefeated records as the Bruins’ Gretchen Sutch scored and assisted on the game-winners, while ETSU’s Caitlin Gaughan amassed 11 saves in shutout victories as the duo won the A-Sun Women’s Soccer weekly honors, announced Monday by the league office. PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gretchen Sutch, Belmont (Sr. – Defender – Knoxville, Tenn. – Exercise Science) • First Career Player of the Week award • Totaled three points in the opening weekend of A-Sun conference play • Scored the game-winner at Kennesaw State; assisted on overtime-winner at Mercer • Led Bruins to first-ever win against Mercer and program's second victory against Kennesaw State OTHER NOMINEES: • Katrina Frost (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Reached 10 goals on the season with two on the weekend • Gina Petracco (Sr., FGCU) – Netted two goals in win against North Florida • Maegan Garner (Sr., USC Upstate) – Notched her first collegiate goal in 3-2 win vs. VMI • Kaitlyn Bassett (Fr., Jacksonville) – Scored twice at Stetson to give Dolphins the 3-1 victory • Alyssa Welsh (So., Stetson) – Tallied two goals vs. North Florida including the game-winner • Olivia Tucker (Sr., Mercer) – Had third multi-goal game of the season with two vs. Lipscomb • Genna Petersen (Sr., ETSU) – Totaled six points on the week with two goals and two assists DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caitlin Gaughan, ETSU (Sr. – Goalkeeper – Indianapolis, Ind. – Chemistry) • First Career Player of the Week award • Picked up two shutouts with home wins against USC Upstate and UNC Asheville • Stopped a career-high ten shots in 3-0 win against Bulldogs on Sunday • Lowered her GAA to a league-best 0.85 in two victories OTHER NOMINEES: • Stephanie Powers (Sr., FGCU) – Tended two shutouts by making 10 total saves • Sarah Plantz (So., USC Upstate) – Earned second win of the season against VMI • Sarah Sierra (So., Jacksonville) – Stopped seven shots on the weekend including six vs. FGCU • Nicole Berner (So., Belmont) – Earned two shutout victories to kick off conference play • Katie Schwartz (Sr., Kennesaw State) – Recorded three points in 4-0 win against Lipscomb
