Draper, Va. – The Belmont Bruins women’s golf team opened their 2005 fall season with some record-breaking performances at the Draper Valley Invitational hosted by Appalachian State held Monday and Tuesday in Draper, Virginia.
The Bruins finished in fifth place out of 16 teams with a team 36-hole score of 616. They finished 25 shots behind tournament champion Western Carolina. Their team score of 616 is the lowest 36-hole score ever posted by a Belmont women’s golf team. It broke the old mark of 632, which was posted at the Lady Catamount Intercollegiate during the 2001-02 season. Their 302 score from Monday’s first round was the lowest 18-hole team score shot by the Bruins. It broke the old mark of 308 set at that same Lady Catamount Intercollegiate during the 2001-02 season.
