MACON, Ga. - The ETSU track and field team closed out the 31st Niswonger Invitational with a bang on Saturday, as five Buccaneer athletes claimed titles. Senior Heidi Dahl set an NCAA provisional mark in the mile run, earning her a third Athlete of the Week award, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Orem, Utah, native, now the ninth fastest miler in the collegiate level, set a time of 4:43.85 to not only win the event but break her previous ETSU mark and better her NCAA Provisional time, which she set two weeks ago at Kentucky (4:47.39).

Dahl, was back in action for the first time since breaking Val Urchison’s ETSU record in the mile at Kentucky, clipped time off her provisional mark on Saturday evening. The interdisciplinary studies major blew past the 15-woman field. Wake Forest’s Anna Noesnko was nowhere near catching Dahl, as she finished second in 4:56.07.

The Buccaneers return to action on Friday when they compete at the two-day Virginia Tech Invitational.
