MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference awarded Lipscomb's Dani Walker the 2013 Atlantic Sun Women's Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Tuesday morning.

Walker had a decorated indoor track and field season after being awarded the A-Sun Championship Most Valuable Performer, Women's Top Track Performer and now Scholar-Athlete of the Year with a 3.41 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a Kinesiology major.

Walker highlighted her season with three first-place finishes in the A-Sun Championship.

The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams in the 2011-12 academic year to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative GPA or better and participated in at least half of their team’s games.

• Won the 3000m, mile and 5000m in the 2013 A-Sun Championship
• Crushed an A-Sun meet record in the 3000m by 13 seconds with a time of 9:37.98
• Marked the second-fastest time in an A-Sun Indoor Championship in the mile (4:43.89), third fastest time in the 5000m (16:59)
• Anchored the 4x400m relay for the Bisons with a split time of 56.3
