Golf World Names Danielle Jackson Player of the Week
|

DeLand, Fla. - Fresh off a virtuoso performance in winning the Atlantic Sun Conference individual championship and leading the Stetson women’s golf team to its first A-Sun team crown, the accolades continued to roll in for junior Danielle Jackson (Seminole, Fla.) as Golf World Magazine named her its National Women's College Player of the Week on Wednesday. Jackson and Men’s Player of the Week Nick Taylor (Washington) were judged to have demonstrated the most outstanding individual play in college golf over the past week.
Jackson tied the A-Sun final round record with a three under par 69 in last Wednesday’s final round as the Hatters erased a three-stroke deficit to beat Campbell by two shots at Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand and win the program’s first conference championship. Her 69 was part of a league-record even par 288 team score in the final round and made her the first Hatter ever to win medalist honors at the conference tournament as well.
Stetson will make its NCAA Tournament debut May 7-9 at the East, Central or West Regional Championship. The NCAA will announce the complete field and assigned locations this Monday, April 27.
