JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Surrounded by fellow ETSU coaches, student-athletes, administrators and fans, the Buccaneer women’s golf team learned Monday that they will be playing in the NCAA Central Region hosted May 8-10 at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas .
The Bucs, who earned the program’s first-ever trip to the NCAAs by capturing the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship two weeks ago, are excited about the opportunity to compete against the nation’s best collegiate teams and battle for the national championship.
“Looking at the teams in the East Region it was really stacked, so I like our region and our chances to advance to the finals,” said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. “I think we can compete with anyone in the country right now and I’m really proud of how our team has been playing. I’ve played this course before when I was in college and I’m familiar with it. It’s a hilly course a lot like the courses we play here, so that should be an advantage for us.”
