JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - Belmont's Lorie Warren fired a 3-under par 69 to lead the field on the second day of the 2008 Atlantic Sun Women's Golf Championship at the Ridges Golf Course and Country Club. In the team race, ETSU opened up a 28-stroke lead on second-place Campbell after shooting a 299 for a 36-hole total of 597.

Warren, who registered a hole-in-one at the par-3 seventh hole yesterday, erased an 11-stroke deficit to take a two-stroke lead in the individual standings. Her second round performance matched the best 18-hole round in Belmont history and tied for the third-lowest round in A-Sun Women's Championship history. Starting on the sixth hole, the junior played the next eight holes in 6-under par, highlighted by a stretch of four straight birdies from holes 8-11.

"I was on a roll and made four or five putts in a row," Warren said. "I was telling my dad after I made my third in row that I had never made three in row before and then he said 'well just make another one' and then I made another one...and that's my current record."

A quartet of Lady Bucs trail Warren, led by team-frontrunners Natalia Giraldo and Laura Jansone. The second round proved to be taxing for Jansone who followed Monday's 18-hole A-Sun Championship record 5-under 67 with an 82, tying Giraldo in second place at 149. Giraldo and teammate Maria Ringdahl each recorded 1-over 73s to tie for team honors on the day, as Ringdahl owns the rights to fourth-place after two days of play. Sinead O'Sullivan, currently in fifth, rounded out the ETSU attack with a 2-over 74 for a 36-hole total of 152. The Lady Buccaneers seek their first A-Sun Women's Golf Championship in school history going into the third and final day of the tournament on Wednesday.

"To my seniors, I promised we would have a championship at home," ETSU Head Coach Stefanie Shelton said. "I just can't wait to experience it. We definitely want to capture it at home for our first time."

Only three other host schools have won the championship in the 19-year history of A-Sun Women's Golf.

Separated by five shots after day one, Campbell and Belmont find themselves in a battle for second-place in the team standings. The Camels bested their first round score by five strokes, turning in a 310 for a two-day cumulative of 625. However, their grasp on second-place loosened after Warren's day-best 69 led the Bruins to a team score of 306, the second-best team score of the day. Belmont trails Campbell by only one stroke. Belen Diaz Cisneros (153), Maite Ortiz de Pinedo (155) and Mary Mattson (156) guide the Campbell attack while Rebekah Wilson shot a 4-over 76 on day two for the Bruins.

Stetson remains in fourth-place following a day-two total of 328, giving them a 650 total for the Championship. Jacksonville trails the Hatters by seven strokes after a 333 on Tuesday. Mercer (664), Gardner-Webb (667) and Lipscomb (686) round-out the field, holding the same positions as a day ago.

The A-Sun Women's Golf Championship wraps up play tomorrow with the first groups scheduled to tee off at 8:00 a.m. ET.
