MACON, Ga. – Stetson sophomore Danielle Jackson single-handedly doubled the program’s all-time Golfer of the Month awards following her superb play in two October tournaments, the conference office announced on Thursday. She joins Samantha Maust, who won the September 2003 award, as the only two women from Stetson to garner the monthly award.

At the UNCG Starmount Classic, held on October 15th and 16th, Jackson fired rounds of 72 and 74 to finish +4 and in a tie for 6th at the 6,265-yard, par-71 layout of Starmount Country Club. The field consisted of 67 participants. Jackson entered the final round two strokes off the lead that shared by three golfers. As a team, the Hattters took seventh in the 11-team field.

Two weeks later at the DeBarry Invitional, hosted by Winthrop, Jackson paced the Hatters to a runner-up finish in the 13-team field. Sophomore Jackson shared the 18-hole lead with tied Winthrop’s Jutta Degerman after opening with a one-over-par 73. After a 76 in the second round, she finished in a tie for third place in the 74-woman field, three shots behind the winner.

These two tournaments extended Jackson’s streak of top-10 finishes to three as she finished fifth at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in late September.
