JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Mercer women's golf claimed its third consecutive team title at the Eat-A-Peach Collegiate and two-time defending individual champ Lacey Fears just missed her third straight title on Monday.

The Bears posted a combined team score of 300 in the final round at Pine Lakes Golf Course, while Fears led Mercer with a tie for second place overall on the strength of her season-best 70 in the final round. Mercer's 300 on Monday equaled North Florida for the day's low score and helped the Bears withstand a charge from second-place Charleston Southern.

Mercer began the day just one stroke ahead of the Buccaneers, but outplayed the Big South Conference representative by three strokes in the final round to secure the win. Mercer's three-round total of 891 outpaced Charleston Southern (895), North Florida (904), Stetson (917) and Seminole State (921) on the team leaderboard.

Fears entered the event as the two-time defending individual champion, but ultimately her bid at three-straight Eat a Peach trophies was denied by Seminole State's Chanya Angwarawong. Angwarawong fired a tournament low 67 on Monday to best Fears by one stroke. Fears' score of 215 earned her fourth career top-five finish. Teammate Mary Alice Murphy also took home a top-five finish, placing fourth with a three-day total of 220. Murphy's finish marked her eighth top-five placement and second-consecutive event in the top-five individuals.
