MACON, Ga. – ETSU’s Laura Jansone closed her Atlantic Sun career in grand fashion, winning her second Atlantic Sun Women’s Golf Championship individual title. In recognition of her win, she earned the third Golfer of the Month award of her career, the conference announced Wednesday.

Jansone, the medalist at the 2008 A-Sun Championship, opened the 2010 Championship by shooting a 3-under, 69 to grab a three-stroke advantage. The senior from Jurmala, Latvia, who owns the A-Sun Championship scoring record with her 67 in the first round of the 2008 event, turned in just the eighth sub-70 score in A-Sun Championship history.

After a second-round 1-over-par, 73, Jansone closed out the wire-to-wire victory by recording at 1-under, 71 to finish the week with a 3-under-par total of 213, the second-best 54-hole score in conference history. She became only the fifth player in conference history to win the conference title multiple times, joining FIU’s Moira Dunn (1991-93), Campbell’s Mara Larrauri (1997-98), Georgia State’s Lisbeth Meincke (2003-05) and Campbell’s Alejandra Shaw (2006-07).
