DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Jacksonville women's golf team claimed the BCC Invitational over the weekend by 26 shots to snap a three-year title drought.
The Dolphins claimed the nine team event with a two-round total of 637 to beat host Bethune-Cookman on the par-72 Indigo Pines Country Club. For the tournament, JU had four players in the top 10 and all five in the top 20.
Jacksonville got a stellar effort from freshman Therese Karlsson, the top finisher for JU. Starting in the No. 5 position, Karlsson fired rounds of 78 and 80 to finish just one shot back of a playoff for the individual title.
"We played really well in tough conditions," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "We got some great play from some young players, especially Therese."
