Waynesville, N.C. – The Belmont women’s golf team placed ninth at this weekend’s Great Smokies Collegiate hosted by Western Carolina at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, North Carolina.
The Bruins posted a team score of 297 on Sunday to move up one spot from yesterday’s round. The score of 297 set a new school record lowest 18-hole team score. The squad also finished with a 36-hole score of 596, which also sets a new school record. They broke the old marks of 302 (18-holes) and 616 (36-holes) set three weeks ago at the Draper Valley Invitational. The overall team champion was host Western Carolina at 576.
Belmont freshman Lorie Warren (Hendersonville, Tenn.) posted her second top-10 finish of the season. Warren followed up her school record 71 on Saturday with a 72 to finish at 143 (1-under par).
