Stetson’s Buelow Breaks Out for 1st Golfer Award

MACON, Ga. – Stetson’s Alexandria Buelow came to the Hatters with many accolades, including wins the Florida Women’s State Golf Association Amateur Stroke Play and Amateur Match Play. She has quickly excelled at the college level and on Wednesday, she won her first Atlantic Sun Women’s Golfer of the Month award, the conference office announced.

An instant freshman sensation for the Hatters, Buelow completed the month of October with two top-five finishes and top 10s at all three events in a total of eight strokes over par in 12 rounds. The native of Palm City, Fla., shot par or better five times in those 12 outings and helped the Hatters to a pair of top-five team finishes in strong fields.

The latest Golfweek.com Sagarin rankings show Buelow, a sport management major, as the highest-ranked A-Sun women’s golfer at 117th nationally. Her head-to-head won-lost record in October finished at an astounding 234-10. Stetson ranks 70th in the team rankings.

Finish tied for second in the Palmetto Intercollegiate and led the Bucs to their first team title of 2009-10

Ket Preamchuen – Kennesaw State (Fr. – Chachoengsao, Thailand – Undeclared)
Preamchuen led the Owls in every tournament, top top-five finishes, and a top ten finish in the other.

Teresa Urquizu – Campbell (Fr. – San Sebastian, Spain –Business Administration)
Urquizu moved up to #132 in the Golfstat Cup rankings by posting a pair of top-five and a top-15 finish.
