MACON, Ga. - Senior Amanda Davey and the Lady Osprey harriers traveled to the University of Florida this past weekend, competing against some of the top collegiate cross country programs in the southeast at the Mountain Dew Invite. Davey completed the 5,000 meter course in 18:40.93, finishing 14th out of 175 runners, and on Wednesday afternoon the Atlantic Sun Conference rewarded her efforts by naming her the Runner of the Week.
Davey was the first Lady Osprey across the finish line, coming in just one minute out of first place. Her efforts also paced a fantastic team performance, as North Florida finished fourth at the prestigious event.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Athlete of the Week every Wednesday during the 2007 cross country season.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Other Top Performers Erin Sutton, Kennesaw State (Jr. - Dallas, Ga. - Biology) - Won second meet of the season winning the Mercer Invitational for the second consecutive year.
Tesha Haggard, ETSU (Fr. - Morristown, Tenn. - Undecided) - Posted a second-place finish in her Buccaneer debut Saturday at the Irish Brigade 5k Commemorative Run.
Baillie Locke, Campbell (Fr. - Wiarton, Ontario - History) - Took third in her second collegiate contest (Seahawk Invitational) after winning in her debut.
