Macon, Ga. - Campbell junior Alicia Valtin (Sanford, N.C./Elementary Education
major) was named Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week today by the conference office.
Valtin took first place in the Furman Invitational with a time of 18:19.15 as
the Camels captured the team title. The win was her third of the season and
the team's first. Valtin had victories at the Campbell Invitational and the
Great American Cross Country Festival. She overcame an injury that kept her
from competing last season to become the team's leader. The six-time A-Sun All-Academic
honoree has not finished outside of the top-three this season.
This is the third Runner of the Week honor for Valtin this season.
On October 15, The Fighting Camels will compete in the Winthrop Fall Classic.
