Nashville, Tenn. – For the seventh consecutive year, the Belmont women’s cross country team has been honored as a WICCCA Academic All-American Team after posting a 3.641 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in the fall of 2005.
The honor is given yearly by the Women’s Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (WICCCA).
The Bruins posted the sixth best GPA in NCAA Division I this season with Mississippi State, Indiana, South Dakota State, Utah State, and Indiana State ahead of them in the rankings. In addition, this is the sixth straight year that the program has finished among the top-10 highlighted by a pair of first place showings in 1999 and 2001.
“Earning this award once again shows our student-athletes’ commitment to excelling in the classroom and competition," said head coach Seth Sheridan. "Academic success is very important to our program and I am proud to be honored again with this award.
