MACON, Ga. - Mercer senior guard LaToya Jackson powered her team to a pair of key Atlantic Sun Conference victories over the weekend, helping the Bears continue one of the top turnarounds in the nation this season. On Monday, the conference office named her Player of the Week for the third time this season and fourth time in her career.

Jackson carried the Bears to two big wins against Nashville rivals Lipscomb and Belmont this weekend to boost Mercer within touching distance of the A-Sun championship’s No. 3 seed. Jackson averaged 19.5 points over the two games, leading the team in scoring on both occasions. Jackson scored 17 of her 22 points in the all-important second-half against Lipscomb, helping the Bears to overcome a double-digit deficit to earn their first-ever season sweep of the Lady Bisons. Fittingly, it was a Jackson three-pointer that gave Mercer the lead for good with four minutes to play in the second half. She followed that performance up with a 17-point performance against Belmont, hitting four clutch free throws in the final minute to ice an important victory for the Bears. All told, she would shoot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line on the week, while shooting .524 and .538 from the floor and three-point range, respectively.
