3/4/2006 - WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Belmont Claims Second A-Sun Regular Season Title in Three Years

Macon, Ga. -- The field is set for next week's 2006 Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Tournament. The regular season wrapped up with Belmont claiming its second regular season title and taking the number one seed going into the tourney.

The Bruins defeated the second-seeded FAU, 78-71, at Curb Event Center Saturday night.

On the other end of the standings, Jacksonville and Stetson fought it out earlier today for the seventh and eighth seeds. Jacksonville was victorious, defeating Stetson, 75-70.

Tournament action will begin March 9 at the Dothan Civic Center in Dothan, Alabama.
