KSU Upsets Mercer In Televised Game; Race Tightens In Final Stretch
Kennesaw, Ga. – With five teams already clinching spots in the 2006 Women's Basketball Tournament, the final three spots must be played out among Mercer, Jacksonville and Stetson, who are most likely to claim those places.

However, today at the KSU Convocation Center, Kennesaw State slowed Mercer's progress, taking a 75-65 victory in a regionally televised matchup on CSS.

For the three Lady Owls’ playing in their final home game at KSU (5-20‚ 4-14 A-Sun)‚ things could not have gone much better. Both Dominika Mieszkowska and Danielle Bates scored 16 points‚ while Shavonder Clarke added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Despite shooting just 26.7 percent in the first‚ KSU found its rhythm as the half drew to a close‚ and the Lady Owls managed to trip Mercer’s lead to 29-26 heading into halftime.

Mercer held a lop-sided 42-8 edge in points in the paint‚ but KSU’s bench outscored Mercer’s‚ 26-16‚ for the game.

The season wraps up this week with the race tight on the top and bottom ends of the standings. Despite UNF and Kennesaw's ineligibility for the tourney, they can throw a monkey wrench into things this week.
