Macon, Ga. -- Stetson is planning a memorable evening as they host Florida
Atlantic in tonight's A-Sun/CSS Women's Basketball Game of the Week. The Hatter
and Owls will take the court at 7:00 pm for tip-off. Barry Milligan will call
play-by-play action and Robin Muller will provide color anaylsis.
Stetson will celebrate the 100th anniversary season of the Stetson women's basketball
program just before the start of the game. The event marks the celebration of
the first game for the Hatters which took place on Feb. 7, 1906, against Rollins
College in DeLand. All females will receive free admission.
For the first time since the 1999-2000 season the Florida Atlantic University
women's basketball is riding a five game winning streak. The Owls will look
to keep the run alive against a struggling Stetson squad that has lost five
out their last six games, including two straight.
In their last matchup, the Hatters gave the Owls fits back on Jan. 7 at FAU
Arena, but FAU held on to win 57-55.
FAU is averaging 75.8 points per game over its last five contests. Missy Glaser
(13.6), Shontavia Williams (15.4), and Amanda Bulin (10.6) have combined to
average 39.6 points per game during the current stretch. Head coach Chancellor
Dugan enters this week one win shy of 250 career wins.
Demina Anderson scored 14 points and Cristal Randolph added 11 points in the
first meeting of the season between the two foes. Stetson still leads the all-time
series 19-to-14. Preaseason All-Conference Player of the Year Nefertiti Walker
anchors the Hatters, scoring 19.9 per outing, which is third in the league.
