JU's Gray named NCAA Division I SAAC Representative

After holding the highest ranking student-athlete position in the Atlantic Sun Conference for the past three years, Jacksonville University will continue to hold the torch for the conference as junior Danielle Gray took the reins as a representative for the National Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Gray, who is the third Dolphin to represent the A-Sun on the national level, was nominated to the conference by JU due to her SAAC experience, community service achievements, overall GPA and athletic achievements. Once all nominations are received by the conference, each school votes for finalists to be considered by the NCAA. The final selection for the conference representative is then chosen by the National SAAC and is then ratified by the Board of Directors and the Management Council.

Former Dolphins Becky Watt (rowing) and Matt Dobbins (baseball) held the position in previous terms while the JU SAAC has represented the A-Sun since 2005. Gray, who will hold a two-year term, will represent the A-Sun at NCAA National SAAC meetings. She will also serve as secretary for the JU SAAC as she enters her third year with the organization.
