MACON, Ga. - Stetson junior Sharnesha Smith led the Hatters to a pair of road victories last week, extending their season-best winning streak to three games, and giving the squad its most successful road trip in seven years. On Tuesday, the guard continued that success as she earned her first career Player of the Week honor the conference office announced. It is the first weekly award for a Stetson player since December of 2006.
Smith averaged 17 points per game in Stetson's two road victories this week; 16 in Saturday's 77-65 win at Mercer and 18 in Monday's last-second 55-54 takedown of Kennesaw State. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and blocked three shots while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and making all four of her free throw attempts. Smith's consistency helped the Hatters achieve their first three-game winning streak this season and their first sweep of a conference road trip since January 2001.
