FORT MYERS, Fla. – Ashley Haegele scored a game-high 18 points and four Eagles scored in double-figures as the Eagles hung on and defeated ETSU 71-66 on Monday night to secure a share of first place in the Atlantic Sun conference.

After pulling ahead 2-0, in the first 0:23 of the game, the Eagles shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the floor, including 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the three-point line, to stay ahead and defeat the Lady Bucs in a highly contested game to win their ninth straight. The game included only three ties and no lead changes as the Eagles never trailed in the contest.

With the win, FGCU improves to a 14-7 overall record (9-2 A-Sun), while the Lady Bucs fall to 13-11 overall (9-2 A-Sun). FGCU now moves into a three-way tie with Jacksonville (who lost to Belmont on Monday night) and ETSU for first place in the A-Sun.

Four Eagles scored in double-figures, led by Haegele’s (Imperial, Mo.) 18 points. For the game, Haegele made 4-of-10 attempts from the field and 8-of-12 from the charity stripe. She also had seven rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Adrianne McNally (Howell, Mich.) scored 16 points. McNally added six assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Chelsea Dermyer (Fort Collins, Col.) and Delia De La Torre (Las Cruces, N.M.) registered 14 points each. Dermyer added five rebounds and three assists to her stat line for the game, while De La Torre pulled down seven rebounds and dished out two assists before fouling out with 47 seconds remaining in the second half.
