MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State junior Brittney Henderson dropped in a career-high 25 points against Belmont Monday night, as the Lady Owls defeated the defending Atlantic Sun Conference champions for the first time in school history. The victory completed a weekend conference sweep and moved the Owls into a tie for second place in the A-Sun standings. Henderson averaged nearly a double-double in the two victories and on Tuesday garnered her second Player of the Week honor of the season the conference office announced.

Henderson had a stellar week for the Lady Owls, helping them to a 2-0 record with wins over Lipscomb and Belmont. Against the Lady Bisons, the forward notched her seventh double-double of the season with a 16-point, 10-rebound effort. On Monday, the Atlanta native had her best game in a KSU uniform, scoring a career-high 25 points and falling one rebound short of another double-double en route to helping the Lady Owls to their first-ever victory versus Belmont. For the week the psychology major averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Other Top Performers:

Virginia Gregoire, Jacksonville (Jr. – G – Deerfield Beach, Fla. – Marketing) – Averaged 20.5 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals while shooting .600 (15-25) from the field and .545 (6-11) from beyond the arc.

Siarre Evans, ETSU (So. – G – Griffin, Ga. – Sport Management) – Averaged 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.5 steals in two games, shooting 41.7 percent from the floor.

Shannon Murphy, Kennesaw State (Fr. – G – Brighton, Mich. – Marketing) –Averaged 29.5 minutes, 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and one steal, while shooting 54.5 percent from the field (12-of-22) and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from long-distance.
