MACON, Ga. - Campbell senior Marlena Murphy matched a pair of career-highs against Atlantic Sun Conference foe USC Upstate last week, constructing the best single-game of her stellar career and leading the Camels to their first A-Sun win of the season. The center capped the week with her seventh double-double in her last eight games against ETSU and now adds her first Player of the Week award of the season to her list of accomplishments, the conference office announced Tuesday.

The Fayetteville, N.C. native started her week tying career highs with 24 points and 18 rebounds against USC Upstate, playing especially clutch down the stretch and scoring 18 of her points in the second half in an 84-70 victory over the Spartans. The psychology major followed up that effort with her 11th double-double of the season in putting up 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to ETSU. Murphy came into the week averaging 11.1 rebounds a game (ranking eighth nationally) and upped that average to 11.6 with her two games on the week. The senior center is the only player in the league averaging a double-double this season.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Gardner-Webb University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University.

Other Top Performers:

Ashley Williams, Jacksonville (Sr. – F – Jacksonville, Fla. – Business) – For the week, Williams averaged 22 points, six rebounds and a steal while shooting .760 percent from the floor (19-25).

Britteny Henderson, Kennesaw State (Jr. – F – Atlanta, G. – Psychology) – Averaged 17 points and seven rebounds in two games last week, while shooting 61 percent from the floor.

Courtney Hawkins, USC Upstate (So. – G – Greer, S.C. – Business Administration) – Became first A-Sun player to score 30 points in a game this season with 30-point game against Campbell on Saturday.
