DOTHAN, Ala. – Jenny Norman netted a career-high 19 points in just 24 minutes of action to help lift the high-scoring ETSU Buccaneers to an 83-69 first round victory over Lipscomb in the Atlantic Sun Championship at the Dothan Civic Center on Thursday night.
The third-seeded Bucs (19-10) advance to face No. 2 Jacksonville in the nightcap of tomorrow’s semifinal action. The two teams finished the regular season tied for second place in the conference standings.
ETSU outscored No. 7 Lipscomb 9-3 to open the game and would never trail. The lead would grow to as many as 17 points in the first half before the Bucs settled in for a 45-34 advantage at the intermission.
The shorthanded Lady Bisons (8-21) made several runs at the Bucs in the second half, cutting the lead to single digits six times, but could not get closer than eight points.
Four ETSU players reached double figures led by Norman. Catie Woods drilled five three-pointers on her way to a career-best 22 points for the Lipscomb.
Coach Karen Kemp secured her first victory in A-Sun postseason play while the league’s highest scoring team improved to 11-0 when scoring more than 80 points in a game this year.
