Macon, Ga. – Making a late season surge, Mercer had a 2-0 week courtesy of
TaShera Lewis. She was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week today by the conference
office. Against Belmont and Lipscomb, Lewis averaged 16 points and 5.5 rebounds.
Handing the top team in the league its first A-Sun loss of the season, Mercer
was able to capitalize on its home court advantage, and the absence of Belmont
starters Shaunda Strayhorn and Alysha Clark. Lewis poured in 17 points, four
rebounds and three assists in the Bears' 69-65 victory.
Against Stetson, the sophomore forward scored 15 points and pulled down five
boards as Mercer cruised to a 58-49 win over Lipscomb. The Bears are now 4-19
overall and 3-9 in conference play.
This marks the first Player of the Week award for Lewis. A native of Eastman,
Ga., Lewis is majoring in Biology.
