Double-Double Act Leads to POTW for ETSU's Evans

Macon, Ga. – Putting up huge numbers for ETSU, Siarre Evans was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week after averaging a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds per game in conference action. The Lady Bucs went undefeated last week against UNF and Jacksonville.

The rookie guard has been explosive this season, and last weekend was no exception. Evans led all scorers in an 87-48 win over UNF, scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. She was 7-for-10 from the floor and a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bucs used a 22-2 run at the start of the game to cruise to the 39-point victory. It was the third largest win for head coach Karen Kemp in her 13-year tenure at ETSU.

Two nights later, the Griffin, Ga. native picked up her sixth career double-double, tallying 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 68-61 takedown of Jacksonville. Despite shooting 3-of-10 from the floor, Evans made up for it from the charity stripe. She shot 80 percent, sinking eight of 10 attempts.

Evans' weekly numbers are 36 points, 24 rebounds, four assists and four steals. This marks the first Player fo the Week award for Evans and the second for ETSU this season, joining Brooke Wilhoit on the list. Evans is majoring in sports management.

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.
