MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville's Tracie Sneed and FGCU's Betsy Adams captured the Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball weekly honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Sneed racked up a career-high 28 points in a win vs. Savannah State to tie for the second-most points in the Dolphins program history, while Adams guided the Eagles to a road win against Virginia Tech with 19 points.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Tracie Sneed, Jacksonville (Sr. – F – Jacksonville, Fla. – Sociology)
- First Career Player of the Week award
- Set a career-best with 28 points in 12-point win vs. Savannah State
- Her 28 points tied for the second-best single game effort in JU history
- Shot 8-of-11 from the field and 9-of-10 on free throws
- Hit 3-of-4 three pointers; added four rebounds and two steals
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Brianna McQueen (Fr., ETSU) – Posted 12 points with five assists at LSU
- Sarah Hansen (Jr., FGCU) – Tallied 19 points and six rebounds in seven-point win at Virginia Tech
- Shanasa Sanders (Sr., Stetson) – Poured in 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals in win at FAU
- Tee'Ara Copney (Sr., USC Upstate) – Scored season-high 22 points vs. High Point with five rebounds
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK:
Betsy Adams, FGCU (Sr. – G – Monticello, Ind. – Business Administration)
- First Career Newcomer of the Week award
- Posted a game-high 19 points in FGCU's win at Virginia Tech, 63-56
- Hit four of seven three-point attempts and 5-of-6 free throws
- Added three rebounds in 35 minutes of action
- Marked FGCU's sixth win vs. a BCS conference opponent in last three seasons
