FGCU Eagles Improve to No. 3 in Women's Mid-Major Poll

MACON, Ga. - For the second-consecutive week, the FGCU women's basketball team moved up one spot in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll after sweeping their A-Sun opponents and for the ninth-straight week received votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Eagles currently stand at 19-1 and 12-1 in the Atlantic Sun and are one of four one-loss teams remaining in Division I (UConn, Baylor, Green Bay). Last week, the Blue and Green improved to fourth after dropping to fifth in the previous week's poll. FGCU reached as high as No. 2 in the poll by starting the season with 14-straight wins.

The Eagles claimed six votes to rank No. 33 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches’ Poll that was released on Tuesday, Feb. 8. FGCU has also earned votes in four weeks of the AP Top-25 Poll.

The Blue and Green return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 12 when they travel to the campus of Mercer University at the University Center. Tip is set for 2 p.m. and can be seen live ASun.TV.
