Kelly Keeps Bisons Perfect, Wins Weekly Honors

MACON, Ga. - Preseason Player of the Year Alex Kelly lifted Lipscomb to two road wins and the first 9-0 start seen Atlantic Sun volleyball since ETSU in 2006 to earn the fourth Player of the Week award of her career, the conference office announced on Monday.
In a pair of road contests, Kelly, the reigning A-Sun Player of the Year, helped the Lady Bisons extend their regular-season conference win streak to 14. On Friday in Lipscomb’s 3-2 win at ETSU, the junior from Kansas City, Mo., registered a double-double with 16 kills and 19 digs.
One day later in Buies Creek, N.C., Kelly set a team season-high with 25 kills in a 3-1 win at Campbell in the A-Sun Match of the Week. She added 12 digs and also set Gore Arena highs for kills, total attacks (51), and points 28.5. The marketing major leads the conference and ranks 13th in the nation in kills per set at 4.47.

Kelli Carneal - Stetson (Fr. - S - Fredericksburg, Va. - Sport Management) -- Carneal came within a whisker of a triple-double in both Stetson's matches this season, leading the Hatters to their first win in 2009 with a season-best 31 assists, 10 digs and eight kills in a four-set victory over Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday. She added 24 assists, a career-high 13 kills and eight digs on Friday at USC Upstate. She hit .439 on the week.
Emily Sanders - USC Upstate (Fr. - S – Sullivan, Ill. - Spanish) -- Playing in Upstate's 6-2 setting rotation, Sanders led the Spartans with two double-doubles in wins against rival Wofford and A-Sun foe Stetson. She posted 20 assists and 13 digs in the four-set win versus Wofford before wrapping up the week with 25 kills and 12 digs in Upstate's first A-Sun win of the year. Sanders leads the Spartans with seven double-doubles.
Aidan Yeager - Jacksonville (Jr. - OH - Martinez, Ga. - Management) -- Yeager enjoyed some home cooking as her swing pushed JU's winning streak to six matches with wins against Mercer and Kennesaw State. Against Mercer, she tallied 10 kills and a .333 (10-3-21) hitting percentage in a 3-0 win. Against KSU, she saved the best for last with a match-high 16 kills and hit a career-best .406 (16-3-32) in a 3-1 win. For the week, she finished with 26 kills, 3.71 kills per set and a blistering .377 (26-6-53) hitting percentage.
Amanda Youell - ETSU (Sr. - S - Middleburg, Fla. - Radiology) -- Youell led an ETSU team that saw its upset bid just fall short against Lipscomb as the Bucs became the first conference team to win a set against the Bisons taking the game to five sets. Youell posted 14 kills hitting .560 on the weekend with 87 assists, 19 digs and eight blocks. The Middleburg, Fla. native tallied a double-double in the 3-1 win versu Belmont on Saturday as she had 42 assists and ten digs, and was only three kills short of posting her first triple-double of the season.
