MACON, Ga. – On Monday, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced its weekly volleyball award with Stefine “Jake” Pease of Lipscomb winning the Player of the Week.

The Lady Bisons swept FGCU and Stetson on the road to remain unbeaten in the A-Sun. Pease, the quarterback of the offense, deftly distributed the ball in an effective inside-outside attack. She passed the 3,000-assist mark over the weekend, pushing her total to 3,037 for her career. Pease ranks seventh on the Atlantic Sun all-time assists list. In Lipscomb’s three-set win against FGCU, Pease tallied 35 assists, 11 digs, one kill and one service ace.

The junior, from Berryton, Kan., earned Preseason All-Conference Team honors after a stellar 2008 season in which she made the First-Team All-Atlantic Sun, the A-Sun All-Tournament Team and earned Academic All-Conference. Pease also ranked 89th in the NCAA in assists per set (10.12), first in the A-Sun in assists (1,235, 10.12 per set) and first in A-Sun matches only in assists (762, 10.44).

Other Top Performers
Nicki Kent – Jacksonville (Sr. – MB – Vancouver, Wash. – Elementary Education) – Kent helped the Dolphins bounce back with a 3-0 week in which JU did not lose a set. Against UNF, Kent registered five kills a .231 hitting percentage and four blocks. Against Bethune-Cookman, she registered six kills, a .333 hitting percentage and three blocks. In the finale, Kent saved the best for last by tallying 11 kills a .500 hitting percentage and three blocks. For the week, Kent finished with 22 kills (2.44 kills per set), a .378 hitting percentage, and 10 blocks (1.11 blocks per set).

Ashley Weers – Campbell (Sr. – MB – Littleton, Colo. – Sport Management) – The senior fueled Campbell to a 2-0 weekend with wins versus Atlantic Sun opponents Mercer and Kennesaw State, hitting .481 with 3.86 kills and 1.57 blocks per set. The middle blocker committed just two errors on 52 attempts with 27 kills in seven frames, as the Camels downed Mercer 3-0 and KSU 3-1, on the road. Weers also collected 11 total blocks, 10 assisted and a solo, on her way to averaging a team-high 4.86 points per set on the weekend. Weers knocked 11 kills against Mercer, adding five blocks, including four assisted and one solo for a teamhigh 14 points. At Kennesaw State, Weers unloaded a season-high 16 kills on 22 attempts with just one error for a .682 rate, another season high. Also with six blocks and an ace, the senior middle totaled 20 points. The Littleton, Colo. native's pair of double-digit outings marks her seventh and eighth of the season, while Weers has notched seven multi-block matches. Weers has hit over .300 in nine of her 12 matches this season, raising her effort to an A-Sun best .385.

Amanda Youell – ETSU (Sr. – S – Middleburg, Fla. – Radiography) – Youell had an impressive week totaling 12 kills, 135 assists, three service aces, 21 digs and 12 blocks. The Middleburg, Fla. native averaged 11.25 assists, one kill, one block and 1.75 digs per set as the Bucs went 2-1 on the week improving to 2-1 in conference.
