JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior libero Shelley Walroth enjoyed a career season in 2008 and the accolades still continue to mount as she was named 2008 “Libero of the Year” Honorable Mention by Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU).

Lara Newberry of Chattanooga earned "Libero of the Year" for the second straight season after leading the nation with 7.77 digs per set and setting a new NCAA career record. Along with Walroth, Brittany Stowers (North Arizona), Kelly Broussard (Wichita State) and Elena Martinez (LSU) were also named honorable mention.

"Shelly works hard every day in practice, so it's great to see her reaching such high levels in competition," said JU head coach Shaun Kupferberg. "The best part of it all is that she is still getting better."

Walroth became the first Dolphin to garner Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive “Player of the Year” honors and also earned first team all-conference accolades in 2008. She holds the top three spots in the JU single-season record book for digs and surpassed Julie Heipp - 1,324 (1991-94) on the JU career list with 25 against Georgia Southern on Sept. 30.
