Mauldin finishes career on a high note

MACON, Ga. - Holly Mauldin hammered career highs in assists and digs in her final career A-Sun matches against ETSU and Campbell. The senior setter earns her first Atlantic Sun Player of the Week nod in the final award of the season.
The Columbia, S.C., native notched two double-doubles on the week bringing her season total to 10 to lead the Spartans. Mauldin earned a career-high 42 assists and 11 digs in a five-set match with ETSU on Friday. She also slammed down two aces. The physical education major added 28 assists and a career-high 19 digs in a four-set win against Campbell. She tied a career high with five kills and a perfect hitting percentage in the match against the Camels. Mauldin helped her team hit .249 in nine sets on the weekend.

Amanda Youell, ETSU (S - Middleburg, Fla. - Jr. - Radiography) - Youell led the Bucs to wins over USC Upstate and Campbell this past weekend as ETSU locked up the fifth seed in the Atlantic Sun conference tournament. Youell had 55 assists five kills, three service aces and three blocks in the win over the Spartans. The Middleburg, Fla. native finished the week with 99 assists averaging 11 per set, eight kills hitting .389 (8-1-18) 15 digs, three service aces and four blocks.
Sara Bendorf, Jacksonville (OH - Buckley, Wash. - Sr. - Accounting) - Senior outside hitter Sara Bendorf went out on the ultimate high note in the final homestand of her career as the Dolphins went 2-0, including a 3-1 win over FGCU. Against Stetson, Bendorf tallied 14 kills, and three aces as the Dolphins defeated the Hatters, 3-0. Against FGCU, Bendorf finished with a match-high 17 kills, a .472 (17-0-36) hitting percentage, 12 digs (for her team leading 12th of the season), three blocks and two aces (including the match winner). For the week, Bendorf had 31 kills, a 4.43 kills per set average, a .356 (31-5-73) hitting percentage, five service aces, 14 digs and three blocks.
Jenny Gray, Belmont (MH- Greenwood, Ind. - Junior - Early Childhood Education) - Led Belmont to an undefeated home conference season and clinched a bye in next week's A-Sun Tournament with wins over Mercer and KSU ... Recorded two double-doubles in the two victories; totaled 12 kills and 11 digs with a .476 hitting percentage in the 3-set victory over Mercer; Against KSU, earned 10 kills and 10 digs.
A-Sun Weekly Notes

JU is still on pace as the best Dolphin record (19-9) since joining the A-Sun in 1998...the Dolphins are in search of their first 20 win season since going 25-19 in 1988.
Against Stetson, Senior outside hitter Sara Bendorf finished with a match-high 14 kills and junior libero Shelley Walroth added a match-high 29 digs...junior outside hitter Brooke Singleton finished with 13 kills, eight digs and three aces. Sophomore middle blocker Abby Gruenbacher chipped in with eight kills and match-highs with four blocks and a .467 (8-1-15) hitting percentage. Junior middle blocker Nicki Kent also tallied six digs, five kills and three blocks. Against FGCU, Bendorf led the Dolphin offense with a match-high 17 kills while hitting .472 (17-0-36) and tallying her team-leading 13th double-double with 12 digs...sophomore outside hitter Aidan Yeager notched 13 kills, a .306 (13-2-36) hitting percentage and eight blocks...Gruenbacher tallied 10 kills and match highs with a .529 (10-1-17) hitting percentage and nine blocks...sophomore setter Hannah Munneke tallied her third double-double of the year with 32 assist and 13 digs...Singleton led the defense with a match-high 17 digs while adding six kills and three blocks...Kent also chipped in with eight blocks and Walroth had 13 digs.
Lipscomb Lady Bisons senior libero Jessica Turner was honored as the only senior on the team during a pre-match ceremony before Saturday’s match with Mercer. Turner was also honored for breaking the 1,000-dig barrier for her career. The Lady Bisons have 20 victories heading into the Atlantic Sun Tournament this week. That total is their highest during a regular season and ties for the most victories overall in a season, a record set in 2007 when they won the A-Sun Tournament Championship.
