JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second straight year the FGCU volleyball team is the Atlantic Sun regular season champions, after defeating UNF in three sets, 25-10, 25-23, 25-18. Ana Kokanovic led all players with 15 kills to go along with 10 digs.

The Eagles got off to a quick start, opening up a 12-3 lead to start the match. They never looked back, taking the first set 25-10.

In the second set, the Ospreys put up a much stronger fight, jumping out to 6-2 lead. The Eagles would come back, slowly chipping away at the UNF lead. A 16-6 scoring run that inluded 3 kills and 2 aces from Ana Kokanovic put the Eagles in front 23-20, and they held on to take the second set 25-23.

The third set started much the same as the first, as FGCU jumped out to an 11-4 lead. UNF closed the gap to 15-13, but the Eagles proved to be too much for the Ospreys, taking the third set 25-18. Kokanovic again led the way with 5 kills in the set for FGCU.

For the Ospreys, who fall to 11-15 on the year (9-10 in conference), Danielle Lerch led the team with 12 kills along with 4 digs. Julie Fye recorded 24 assists and 5 digs, and Kaley Read, one of the team leaders in nearly every category, was held to just 2 kills and seven digs.

Audrey Campbell had a solid match for the Eagles, recording 11 kills while hitting .600, Ashley Yance had 4 kills and 7 blocks, and Holly Youngquist had 9 digs.

With the victory, the Eagles conference record improves to 18-1, giving them their second Atlantic Sun regular season championship in their second year in the league.
