Atlantic Sun standouts Shelley Walroth of Jacksonville and Cat Mundy of Belmont earned 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Volleyball honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).

Walroth, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, posted a 3.65 GPA as a psychology major to earn the honor for the first time in her career, adding to her two A-Sun All-Academic awards. Walroth landed on the Third Team in the University Division of District IV - a region made up of Division I institutions in the states of Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. Already in possession of the single-season digs record at JU, Walroth surpassed Julie Heipp - 1,324 (1991-94) on the career digs list with 25 against Georgia Southern on Sept. 30 and is setting her sights on the Atlantic Sun career record. Going into this weekend's action, she needs only 104 more digs to pass Liz Kane of Mercer (1,843) on the all-time list.

Mundy was placed on the Third Team in the University Division of District IV - a region made up of Division I institutions in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. The business and marketing major has earned a 3.81 GPA while being selected to Belmont's Dean's List and the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team three-straight years. The Dallas, Texas native began the 2008 season as the A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year and wasted no time proving that honor, becoming the sixth player in Belmont history to record 1,000 career kills. On Tuesday Mundy moved into third place on Belmont's career kills list by recording a season-high of 26 kills in a five-set victory over in-state opponent, Austin Peay. Mundy has a total of 1,238 career kills.
