MACON, Ga. - Defending Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball champion Lipscomb sits atop the A-Sun standings and Alex Kelly's play is a large reason why. The sophomore continued her smashing play over the weekend in a pair of victories that kept the Lady Bisons tied for first against A-Sun competition. On Monday the league office rewarded Kelly with her third Player of the Week honor. CVU.com also honored Kelly as a Top Performer for the Week of October 14.

The Lady Bisons were 2-0 in A-Sun play behind two double-doubles by Kelly, who now has seven straight matches in double-doubles in kills and digs. She had 18 kills, a team high, and 12 digs in a 3-1 win at Mercer and a match-high 22 kills and 16 digs in a 3-1 win at Kennesaw State. Kelly leads the A-Sun in hitting percentage (.338) and kills (300) in overall play, and tops the in conference leader board with 155 kills.

Krista Hurley, Mercer (Middle Blocker - La Verne, Calif. - So. - Communications) - Sophomore middle blocker smashed down a team-high 19 kills in the Mercer 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17) loss to Lipscomb and 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-20, 25-20) victory over Belmont. Hurley's 19 kills came on just 39 swings as the La Verne, Calif. native recorded a .359 hitting percentage over the past week. Hurley also led the Bears in blocks and service aces, posting eight total blocks (1.00 b/s) and notching three service aces. Mercer's win over Belmont was the first program's first defeat of the Bruins since 2003.

FGCU: FGCU has now won 31 straight matches at Alico Arena. 23 of the wins have been 3-0 sweeps. FGCU has never played a five-set match at home. The Eagles held their third Atlantic Sun opponent to under 10 points in a set on Saturday, holding UNF to eight in the first set. Only Jacksonville has held another league foe to less than 10 points in a set. The Dolphins held Campbell to nine in their meeting.

Jacksonville: Against Stetson, the Dolphins hit .292 (48-15-113) in the contest, including at least .300 in sets one and three...freshman setter Ashley August recorded her second double-double of the year with 26 assists and 12 digs…senior outside hitter Sara Bendorf tallied a match-high 16 kills and tallied a .324 (16-4-37) hitting percentage and six digs...sophomore outside hitter Aidan Yeager chipped in with 12 kills and two blocks…junior libero Shelley Walroth had 12 digs and junior outside hitter Brooke Singleton recorded four kills, a .444 (4-0-9) hitting percentage and seven digs…against Florid Gulf Coast, JU hit only .177 (36-19-96) in the contest and did not have a player record double-digit kills…Bendorf led the Dolphins with eight kills and three blocks…sophomore middle blocker Abby Gruenbacher tallied seven kills, a team-best .545 (7-1-11) hitting percentage and three blocks…Yeager chipped in with seven kills, Walroth had 14 digs and Singleton recorded six kills, a .333 (6-1-15) hitting percentage and six digs.

USC Upstate: Lubura's Luck: Senior Jovana Lubura has led the Spartans through the first half of the Atlantic Sun Conference schedule, posting 3.06 kills per set, seventh in league play, and adding 2.37 digs. Lubura has boosted her play in the last seven conference matches, averaging 3.38 kills and 2.67 digs, and in the last two matches, Lubura has played well. Against Mercer, Lubura posted 13 kills and 19 digs and against Campbell, she added nine kills and 11 digs. Back-To-Back: Sophomore Sandra Campbell needs became the first player in the DI era to reach 400 career kills with her first against Campbell on Oct. 9 and she is just 12 kills to become the first player to reach 200 kills in back-to-back seasons in the DI era.
