Nashville, Tenn. – In the afternoon match of the day, Belmont defeated ETSU,
3-1 (30-25, 27-30, 30-20, 30-18) to advance to the semifinal round of the Atlantic
Sun Volleyball Tournament Friday at the Curb Event Center on Belmont University’s
campus.
The third-seeded Bruins (21-14) had four players post double-digit kills,
including 18 by Erin Janson and a 15-kill, 17-dig effort by second team All-Conference
pick Lindsay Cleveland. First team All-Conference pick Colleen Nilson had 60
assists. The Lady Bucs (18-14) were led by second team All-Conference selection
Jennifer Sartor (14 kills/19 digs), Callie Kiselich (12 kills/15 digs) and Crystal
Palmer (10 kills/4 digs).
Belmont handily took game one, but ETSU rallied in game two to force a fourth
game. As a team, the Bruins out hit the Lady Bucs, posting 74 kills to ETSU's
52.
Belmont advances to face second-seeded Jacksonville in the day’s fourth match
at 7:00 pm. The match will be a repeat of the 5-game semifinal match played last year in the tournament. The Dolphins won their last outing against the Bruins 3-2 during the
regular season.
