Macon, Ga. – Florida Atlantic’s Kelly Paiva (Minas Gerais, Brazil/Criminal Justice)
put up impressive numbers last week to keep her team undefeated in conference play.
The Atlantic Sun conference office today announced Paiva earned A-Sun Player of
the Week for the fourth time this season.
The senior outside hitter helped the Owls to a 2-0 week defeating Lipscomb and
handing Belmont its first loss in A-Sun play. Paiva led the team to a 6-0 A-sun
mark with 53 kills (6.62 kpg) and added 30 digs, five service aces and two blocks
for the week.
In the A-Sun Match of the Week against Belmont, she smashed 33 kills and 16 digs,
securing a tournament berth for FAU. It was the fifth time this season she has
hit the 30-kill mark. Against Lipscomb, she posted 20 kills and 14 digs. Her two
double-doubles for the weekend bring her season total to 18.
Entering the weekend she was ranked 3rd in the nation in kills per game and leads
the conference in kills per game (5.76 kpg) and points per game (6.48 ppg). FAU
is ranked 13th in the nation for its win-loss percentage. At 22-2, the Owls won
their first 15 matches of the season, but are now on a 7-match win streak.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during
the 2005 volleyball campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.

Lindsay Cleveland, BEL (Sr. - OH - Franklin, Tenn. - Public Relations)
-- Cleveland averaged 3.77 kills per game including 21 in a loss to Florida Atlantic.
She recorded 11 digs as well.
Rachel Templin, CAM (Jr. - RS/MH - Andersonville, Tenn. - Exercise
Science) -- Templin blasted 19 kills and had six blocks for the Camels in Atlantic
Sun action. The junior averaged 3.17 kills, 0.67 service aces, 1.00 digs and 1.00
blocks per game for Campbell over the week.
Jennifer Sartor, ETSU (Jr. - RS/S- Toronto, Ontario - Exercise Science)
-- Sartor belted a team-high 43 kills in three matches last week and contributed
36 digs for the week. She led the team in kills in each match last week.
Cara Wilber, LIP (Fr. - RS - Georgetown, Calif. - Undecided)-- Wilber was the most consistent player for the Lady Bisons with three
double-doubles in a 2-1 week. She recorded 52 kills and 38 digs for the week on
.343. hitting.
Julie Darty, MER (So. - OH - Oviedo, Fla. - General Studies) -- Darty
led Mercer to its first Atlantic Sun Conference win on Saturday, a 3-0 sweep over
Stetson. Darty recorded 17 kills on 27 total attacks, committing just one error.
Emily Kohler, UNF (Jr. - OH - Tallahassee, Fla. - Health Science)
-- Kohler enjoyed her most productive match of the season at Campbell, leading all players
with 13 kills and also added eight digs and seven block assists while committing
just two errors in the three-game sweep.
